A single cask Fijian rum from South Pacific distilled in 2014 and bottled by Fine Spirits at eight years and 50%, full of the island’s signature funk, woody and earthy with medicinal and dried fruit aromas over tropical fruit, vanilla and marzipan.
Description
South Pacific Distilleries in Fiji has become a favourite source for independent bottlers chasing its distinctive funk, and this single cask from the Rum of the World series via Fine Spirits captures that, distilled in 2014, aged eight years and bottled at 50%. The nose runs woody, earthy and faintly medicinal with dried fruit, the kind of slightly wild aromatic profile Fiji is known for.
Matured in ex bourbon, the palate offers tropical fruit, a sweet edge, gooseberry and oak, with the finish turning nutty and showing vanilla, pineapple and marzipan. Tasters note the striking aromatics do not always carry fully onto the palate, but the cask strength presentation and clear island signature make it a rewarding pour for Fiji enthusiasts. A characterful single cask for those who already enjoy the funk and want an unsweetened, full flavoured example to explore neat or with a drop of water.
