Description
Cinzano makes this Asti DOCG in Piedmont from Moscato Bianco, the aromatic grape at the heart of the appellation. It is produced by the tank method, with a single temperature-controlled fermentation in pressurised vessels that captures the grape's floral perfume and stops early to leave natural grape sweetness and a light 7 per cent alcohol. The result is an openly sweet, aromatic sparkling wine built for the dessert course rather than the table, framed by strict DOCG origin rules.
The wine shows light straw yellow with a fine, lively perlage. The nose is intense, with ripe peach, white flowers and a hint of nutmeg over honey and citrus. The palate is fresh and fruity with a harmonious sweetness balanced by juicy acidity, closing aromatic and long. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It suits classic desserts such as panna cotta, tiramisu and fruit tarts, almond biscuits and sponge cake, and works well with a bowl of fresh berries or a fruit sorbet.
