Description
This Cinzano 1757 Rose Edition is a sweet Italian sparkling, produced under the historic Cinzano name from a blend of Pinot Nero, Moscato, Garganega and Raboso picked in September. It is made in the tank method, described as charmat corto, with the second fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the fresh, fruity aromatics and the fine, persistent bead. At 9.5 per cent and carrying a good deal of residual sugar, it sits firmly in the sweet category, with the Moscato lending florals and the red varieties bringing berry fruit and colour. This is a wine built for pudding and celebration rather than the dinner table.
The colour is a bright, intense rose with a numerous, persistent bead. The nose gives strawberry, red berries, blueberry and redcurrant, with floral rose and violet. The palate is full-bodied and round, intense fruit meeting a creamy sweetness and an elegant freshness, the finish soft, long and fruity-sweet. Serve well chilled at 4 to 6 degrees in a flute or white wine glass. It works as a sweet aperitif and pairs with fresh fruit, desserts, pastries and patisserie.
