Chichibu Single Cask 7 Years Old 2011

This single cask Chichibu was distilled at the Saitama distillery in 2011 and bottled in 2018 at 7 years old, directed to the Scandinavian market covering Sweden and Norway at cask strength by Venture Whisky and founder Ichiro Akuto. The release sits under the Single Cask label without a named cask number in the product name.

The maturation is a single Ex-Bourbon cask, and seven years in American oak has produced an unadorned, clean expression of the Chichibu house character. The distillery's fruit-forward new make, known for its vivid orchard fruit and lightly floral quality, is well-served by Ex-Bourbon maturation that brings vanilla, soft wood sweetness and a gentle tropical note without overwhelming the spirit's inherent character. At 59.1% the bottling is well-proportioned and direct, a composed statement of what Chichibu in Saitama does with its most common cask type over a representative ageing period.
