The Intergalactic Series is a collector-focused release from Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, and Edition 6 draws on a single cask distilled in 2015, matured six years in Ex-Bourbon wood and bottled in 2021 at 63.6% for an event release. At six years, this is one of the younger expressions in the 2015 vintage range.
The flavour profile highlights a characteristic shared by some Chichibu casks at younger ages: a cooked vegetable earthiness that sits alongside the expected citrus and cereal brightness of the new make, framed by the vanilla and grain from Ex-Bourbon maturation. At 63.6% cask strength the spirit is vivid and uncompromising, showing the honest youthful energy of a Saitama single malt that the distillery presents without apology in its event releases.
