Description
The Intergalactic Series is one of Chichibu's event only single cask lines, and Edition 5 draws on a 2015 vintage Ex-Bourbon cask bottled in 2021 at 62.3% cask strength. Chichibu is Venture Whisky's Saitama-based distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008 and now one of the defining voices of Japan's modern craft whisky movement.
At six years old the Ex-Bourbon maturation contributes creamy vanilla, new wood spice and a building sweetness, alongside the citric brightness and cooked fruit notes the data calls out. Chichibu's new make is typically vibrant and fruit-forward, and here that character is intact and energetic, with the cask lending structure without masking the distillery's youthful exuberance. Bottled undiluted, it is lively and direct on the palate.
