Description
Chandon Garden Spritz is made by Chandon in Mendoza, Argentina, where high-altitude vineyards around a thousand metres keep the base wine fresh. The cuvee blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Semillon in stainless steel, then finishes with an orange bitters built from Valencia oranges, which turns it into a ready-to-pour wine-based aperitif rather than a straight sparkling wine. This small 190 ml format is a single serve, made to be poured over ice without mixing, and the style is light, citrus-led and pitched at warm-weather drinking.
The colour is a bright rose-orange with a fine bead. The nose leads with lively citrus over a floral, herbal hint, and the palate sets the sparkling base against sweet orange and a light bitterness that gives it grip and keeps it refreshing. Serve cold over ice in a large wine glass with a slice of orange and a sprig of rosemary. It is built as an aperitif and suits Mediterranean plates such as grilled fish, antipasti and a citrus salad.
