Description
Casa Dragones Reposado Mizunara is a 100% Blue Weber reposado distinguished by its cask choice. It is the first tequila matured only in new Mizunara, a scarce Japanese oak long prized for aging Japanese whisky and known for being porous, knotty and dry, which makes it difficult to coopered into barrels. Casa Dragones began trialling the wood in 2018, working with a Japanese cooperage on a bespoke char level, and rested this reposado for up to one year in it.
The nose carries grass, agave and a little vanilla, with orange blossom, magnolia and soft notes of honey and sandalwood. The palate is silky, balancing sweetness and spice across espresso, oak, citrus and a touch of caramel, finishing with the coconut and incense character Mizunara tends to give. The result keeps the agave legible while drawing an aromatic, slightly exotic frame from the oak, very much in Casa Dragones' light and modern style.
