Aged in both French and American oak, this Casa Dragones añejo layers fig, fresh flowers and pear over macadamia, nutmeg and blackberry, closing long with cocoa and spicy black pepper for an oak-led, agave-shaped pour.
Description
Casa Dragones Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from Casa Dragones, made in Jalisco from hand-harvested agave and matured in a blend of French and American oak. The two-cask approach is the point, French oak lending tighter, spicier structure and American oak the sweeter vanilla and caramel register, together giving an aged spirit where wood and agave share the stage.
Produced in small batches using a resource-light method the Tequila Regulatory Council recognises as among the most sustainable, it is then bottled and corked by hand. As an añejo it has spent at least a year in oak, and the wood shows clearly. The nose offers fresh flowers and pear with fig and almond, the palate macadamia, nutmeg and blackberry, and the finish runs long and rounded with cocoa and a spicy black pepper lift. An oak-shaped añejo that keeps an elegant agave core.
