Description
Montebello is a traditional Guadeloupe agricole distillery on Basse-Terre, run by the Marsolle family, and this Rhum Blanc Agricole 2019 is its fresh cane-juice white, distilled from vesou rather than molasses in the classic French-island style.
Bottled at an approachable 40%, it leans into pure cane-juice character: sugarcane, lime and a touch of plum on the nose, then a floral, peppery palate built on fresh cane, finishing light, oily and lightly sweet with a grassy edge. The lower proof makes it softer and more accessible than the high-strength Marie-Galante blancs, with a grappa-like, fresh-distillate quality that rewards drinkers who enjoy the vegetal, green side of white rum. A clean, everyday agricole that shines in a Ti Punch.
