Carrere Montebello Blanc

Montebello, made by the Marsolle family on Basse-Terre, is a traditional Guadeloupe agricole house, and this Carrere blanc is its unaged white. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice and bottled at a punchy 50%, it puts the fresh side of cane juice front and centre.

Distilled on column and bottled without ageing, it noses on sugarcane, tropical fruit, pineapple and a touch of sweetness, with a fruity, balanced and fresh palate built on sugarcane, and a finish that stays bright and oily with more cane. The higher strength gives it the backbone to shine in a Ti Punch while keeping honest, dry cane character to the fore. There is no pretence of complexity here, just clean, fruity Guadeloupe blanc done reliably well. A dependable everyday agricole for drinkers who want a fresh, fruit-forward white to sip neat or, more naturally still, to build into the island's classic lime and cane serve.
