Description
Bortolin Angelo, founded in 1968 and now run with the founder's children, farms steep vineyards around Valdobbiadene in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene zone, one of the best areas for Prosecco. The hillside plots are largely hand-picked, and the wine is made from Glera by the Charmat method to keep the fruit fresh and the bead fine. Where the Brut runs drier, this Extra Dry carries a touch more residual sugar, which gives a creamy, approachable feel while the wine's mineral freshness keeps it balanced.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, lively perlage. The nose shows white flowers and lightly toasted almonds. The palate is creamy and fresh, with peach, pear, apple and citrus over subtle herbal and mineral notes, closing on a delicately fruity, almondy finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass or flute. It makes an elegant aperitif and pairs with light starters, fish and Mediterranean antipasti, and its soft edge suits a lemon tart.
