Description
Bortolin Angelo is a family winery in Valdobbiadene, at the heart of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene zone that sits at the top of the Prosecco hierarchy. Some of the steep hillside plots are picked entirely by hand, which suits the demands of a DOCG bottling. The wine is made from Glera by the Charmat method, keeping the fruit fresh and the bead fine, and a Brut dosage holds it dry. The hillside origin lends a mineral edge that sets the wine above a standard Prosecco DOC.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose shows green apple, pear, white flowers and a hint of citrus. The palate is fresh, dry and harmonious, with fine fruit, a mineral thread and a creamy mousse running to a lively, long finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass or flute. It makes an elegant aperitif and pairs with antipasti, seafood, fine fish and Mediterranean starters.
