Description
Bortolin Angelo makes this Prosecco in the Superiore di Cartizze cru of Valdobbiadene, widely held to be the finest ground within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The Glera grapes come from the steep, sun-facing hills around Valdobbiadene, and the wine is made by the tank method with a controlled second fermentation in pressurised vessels that builds a fine, elegant bead while keeping the fruit fresh. It is finished in the Dry style, which for Prosecco means a touch more sweetness than Brut, set against the wine's natural acidity.
The wine shows pale straw yellow with brilliant highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose is elegant, with ripe pear and apple, white flowers and delicate citrus. The palate is harmonious and fruity, with a fine sweetness balanced by lively freshness, closing soft, long and fruit-driven. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes a stylish aperitif and suits antipasti, prosciutto with melon and carpaccio, as well as seafood and fruit tarts.
