Big Peat The Bruges Edition, a Douglas Laing vatting of Islay malts, holds Port Ellen among its components. It is built to show the big, smoky heart of Islay in a single glass. It carries a piece of closed distillery Islay in every bottle.

Blended malt means malt from more than one distillery, in this case Islay's smoky houses. Built without an age statement, Port Ellen adds its elegant, citric smoke to the mix. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, the classic wood for Port Ellen. Refill ex-Bourbon oak, having given its sharpest notes to an earlier fill, lets the peat and the spirit lead. A dram built for those who take their whisky smoky. The Port Ellen within ties it to one of Islay's lost legends. Smoke, salt and citrus run through its Islay character. At a natural 48% it is powerful and oily. A coastal peat smoke carries salted citrus and a soft wax, with soft vanilla and a touch of coconut from the cask. Soft embers and brine sit behind the smoke. It closes long, smoky and maritime. A rich Islay dram threaded with rare Port Ellen.
