Timorous Beastie is a blended malt Scotch from Douglas Laing. It vats malts from several distilleries, Dalmore lending a rich, sherried Highland note. Most expressions are finished in aged sherry wood, giving orange, chocolate and treacle.

Dalmore lends a rich, sherried Highland depth to the blend. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla and orange over the rich spirit. Dalmore's sherry comes largely from the aged Oloroso casks of Gonzalez Byass. The cool Highland air on the firth gives a slow, even maturation. The rich, dried fruit style runs through the core range, from the twelve year old upward. Water comes from the River Averon, drawn from Loch Morie in the hills above. Its long time master distiller Richard Paterson, known as The Nose, shaped the rich house style. Its spirit stills wear cooling water jackets, condensing the heavier compounds back for a fuller body.

Reduced to 46.8%, it is mellow. Orange, dried fruit and a dark chocolate richness run through it, full and sherried. Beneath it run orange, dark chocolate and dried fruit. A long, opulent finish carries a chocolate orange depth. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
