Big Mama Rum Demerara Gewürztraminer Finished 2003

Big Mama is a value led Demerara range built on lighter, approachable column still rum rather than the heavy heritage pot still marks. This 2003 vintage was matured for 16 years and given a finishing period in casks that held Gewurztraminer, the aromatic Alsace white known for lychee and rose, before bottling at a soft 40%.

The base is molasses, distilled on a column still for a cleaner, sweeter profile than Guyana's wooden stills give. Expect toffee and light wood from the rum itself, lifted by a perfumed, grapey note from the wine cask, an accessible after dinner style rather than a full proof purist bottling.
