Description
Big Mama is an approachable Demerara range built on lighter column still rum rather than Guyana's heritage pot stills. This 2007 vintage matured for 10 years before a finishing period in Muscatel casks, then bottling at an easy 40%.
Molasses based and column distilled, the base spirit is cleaner and sweeter than the wooden still marks. The muscat finish adds raisined, grapey sweetness and floral lift. Expect toffee and light wood from the rum carried by sweet dried fruit from the cask, a gentle, dessert leaning sipper rather than a dry full proof bottling.
