Big Mama Rum Demerara Porto Finished 2005

Big Mama is an accessible Demerara range built on lighter column still rum rather than Guyana's heavy heritage pot stills. This 2005 vintage spent 12 years maturing and was finished in port casks before bottling at an easy 40%.

Molasses based and column distilled, the base spirit is cleaner and sweeter than the wooden still marks. The port finish layers in red and dark fruit, a touch of sweetness and added colour. Expect toffee and light wood from the rum lifted by jammy port notes, an approachable, gently sweet sipper rather than a dry full proof bottling.
