Description
Big Mama is an accessible Demerara range leaning on lighter rum rather than Guyana's heavy heritage pot stills. This 2004 vintage matured for 15 years before a finishing period in Sauternes casks, then bottling at an easy 40%.
Sauternes is the famed sweet wine of Bordeaux, and its casks add honeyed, botrytis driven sweetness and apricot notes. Molasses based, the rum brings toffee and light wood, lifted by rich sweet wine character from the finish. Expect a soft, dessert leaning sipper where the Sauternes cask does much of the talking, gently sweet rather than dry and full proof.
