Description
Baglietti's Gold Edition is a Blanc de Blancs frizzante, which means it is built solely from white grapes rather than a blend that includes red varieties. The result is a bright, primary-fruited semi-sparkling wine, made in stainless steel to preserve clarity and freshness. This is a tank-style wine with no lees ageing, so the character comes from the fruit and the fine, lively perlage rather than bready autolysis. At eleven per cent and finished on the drier side, it is pitched as an easy, versatile pour, with the mirrored gold bottle giving it presence on the table.
The colour is light straw with a fine, lively bead. The nose gives green apple, pear and delicate white blossom. The palate is fresh and balanced, the orchard fruit framed by a clean line of acidity and an elegant structure, closing light and lively. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass or flute. It works as an aperitif and pairs with antipasti, light starters, seafood and Mediterranean finger food.
