Meisner Erdbeer Basilikum Likor is a fruit liqueur made by Robert Meisner in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, that pairs the fruity sweetness of sun ripened strawberries with the delicately spicy freshness of basil. The two are balanced into a mild liqueur bottled at 15%, the strawberry carrying the sweetness while the basil brings a herbal edge that keeps it from turning one note. That fruit and herb combination is the signature.
The nose is fruity strawberry with a hint of fresh basil spice, the palate a harmonious balance of sweet strawberry fruit and light, herbaceous basil freshness, finishing gentle and refreshing with a long fruity flavour. Behind the bar it adds strawberry flavour, sweetness and a herbal lift, which makes it a natural in an aperitif, a strawberry spritz or a fruity sour where the basil keeps things fresh. It is classically built with Prosecco or sparkling wine for a sparkling serve. Serve it well chilled, neat, over ice or lengthened into a long drink.
