Description
Storywood is a tequila whose whole identity is its cask: a 100% Blue Weber agave reposado finished in Speyside ex-Scotch barrels brought down from Dufftown, built to bridge agave and single malt. This is the Speyside 7 in its cask strength form, bottled undiluted rather than cut to the standard 40% expression.
The extra proof makes it livelier, more intense and more agile than the lower strength version, and lovers of higher strength Scotch will recognise the territory, though a few drops of water open it as well. The Scotch casks drive the profile: an intense oak and agave nose, fresh and powerful, then a deep, earthy palate of caramel and subtle oak with a hint of vanilla and honey. Around seven months in the named casks sit behind it. Bottled at 53%.
