Storywood Tequila Speyside 14 Anejo is a 100% Blue Weber anejo whose whole identity is its wood: it is aged fourteen months in former Speyside Scotch whisky casks from Dufftown in Scotland, the cask program that gives the brand its name and its Mexico meets Scotland positioning.
Where the brand's reposado uses the same Scotch casks for a shorter rest, the extra months here push the oak clearly forward. The nose shows more pronounced oak than the reposado, with cooked agave still present, a fresh and faintly peppery edge. On the palate roasted oak leads into toasted nuts and syrup toffee, set against earthy agave, while the 40% strength keeps it mild and unobtrusive. It suits drinkers crossing over from whisky, neat, over ice or in an Old Fashioned.
