Description

Citadelle is the gin arm of Maison Ferrand, distilled in the heart of French Cognac country. Its Original Dry is built from a triple-distilled base spirit flavoured with nineteen botanicals in a deliberately gentle process: the botanicals hang suspended in a net within the still, so the rising alcohol vapour extracts their oils softly rather than boiling them. That care shows in a gin that took gold at the 2017 Gin Masters.

The nose opens on floral wildflowers and fresh citrus. The palate is full-bodied and spicy, juniper and citrus joined by garden herbs and floral nuances, all clearly drawn at a confident 44%. The finish is fresh, clear and lingering. Mix it with a Mediterranean tonic, a sprig of rosemary and a twist of lemon zest to draw out the floral side, or let it carry a properly dry Martini.
