Bright and grassy, this Martinique blanc snaps with sugarcane sap, lemon and white pepper, distilled from fresh cane juice on a creole column at Distillerie du Simon and bottled at a punchy 50% for Ti Punch.
Description
Clement Blanc 50 is the higher-strength white from the historic Clement estate, distilled at Distillerie du Simon in Martinique from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses. As an unaged AOC blanc it is built for freshness and snap, the cane character left wide open rather than rounded off by wood. The 50% bottling reads as a noticeably amped, fractionally sweeter take on the standard strength.
Distilled low on a single creole column to keep the grassy, vegetal congeners in the spirit, it leads with sugarcane and cut grass before lemon and a light floral lift. The palate stays peppery and citrus-driven, finishing vegetal and dry. This is a working blanc more than a contemplative sipper, at its best as the backbone of a Ti Punch or in a fresh highball where the lime and cane can sing.
