The Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve is one of the more accessible expressions in the Yamazaki lineup, first introduced in 2014. This no-age-statement (NAS) single malt whisky was crafted to showcase the signature style of the Yamazaki distillery, while also appealing to a broader range of whisky drinkers. The Distiller’s Reserve blends whiskies matured in a variety of casks, including American oak, Spanish oak (sherry casks), and Japanese Mizunara oak, resulting in a whisky that balances fruitiness, subtle spices, and woody undertones. On the nose, you’ll find notes of strawberries, cherries, and Mizunara oak spice, while the palate introduces a smooth mix of berries, vanilla, coconut, and a hint of cinnamon. The whisky’s finish is soft and slightly dry, highlighting the elegance and refinement that have made Yamazaki a respected name globally.
