The Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan bottled this Dailuaine, a 12 year old, distilled in 2013, from cask 309737, bottled at 48%, one of 306 bottles. Dailuaine is a rich, meaty Speyside single malt from the banks of the Spey near Aberlour. It passed to DCL and Scottish Malt Distillers in the 1920s and was later modernised.

Distilled for the heavy, full bodied spirit Dailuaine is known for, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. A sherry cask wrapped the rich spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth, a fine match for the heavy malt. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the heavy body fuller and richer. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the rich, malty core over the years. Refill oak lets the robust Dailuaine character lead, malt and dried fruit beneath. Maturation in the cool north east keeps the rich spirit balanced over the years.

At 48%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Apple, dried fruit and a meaty edge, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. A baked fruit and a warm spice lift it. It finishes robust, malty and warm. This is a rich, dried fruit laden Speyside single malt.
