Description
Langskip is a core expression of the Wolfburn distillery at Thurso, the most northerly on the Scottish mainland. It is bottled at 58%. It is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland, on the North Coast 500 at Thurso.
Distilled slowly on soft Wolf Burn water, building the fresh far north style. It was matured in ex-Bourbon oak, lending vanilla and a soft honey. With no age statement, it shows the light, fresh, fruity character of young Wolfburn. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the fruity, coastal core over time. The core range runs Northland, Aurora, Morven and Langskip, names drawn from the far north. The Kylver Series gathers single casks named for the runes of an ancient Caithness stone. Water is drawn from the Wolf Burn, the stream that runs past the distillery to the sea. Wolfburn distils, matures and bottles all on its one small site at Thurso.
At a natural 58% it is full and lively. A light, citrussy fruitiness, and the ex-Bourbon lends vanilla and a soft honey. It is clean and fruity, the young spirit shining through. A fruity, gently saline finish lingers. This is a fruity Highland malt from Scotland's most northerly mainland distillery.
