Description

Sansibar, an independent bottler, selected this 22 Year Old: from a 1998 vintage, an outturn of 152 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.

By twenty-two years the muscular Dufftown spirit had turned dense and leathery in the sherry, oxidation drawing out fig, date, walnut and dark chocolate.

At 56.4% it shows raisin, walnut and a leathery, sherried richness on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
