Description

Le Gus't, an independent bottler, bottles this 25 Year Old, a 1995 vintage, cask 157, an outturn of 285 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.

By twenty-five years Mortlach's weighty make had turned dense and leathery in the sherry, oxidation drawing out fig, date, walnut and dark chocolate.

At 45.8% it shows fresh fruit, a sherried depth, cooked fruit, honey, chocolate and citrus, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
