Mortlach 10 Years Old 2012 (La Maison du Whisky)

La Maison du Whisky, the celebrated Paris merchant, in its Artist range, bottles this 10 Year Old: a 2012 vintage, an outturn of 1,781 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.

Across ten years the Oloroso butt loaded the heavy spirit with date, raisin and a nutty edge, weight and sherry meeting head on.

At 48% it shows cooked fruit, leather, old wood, a sherried depth and tobacco, undiluted. The savoury Dufftown style.
