Edition Spirits, an independent bottler, bottles this 14 Year Old, cask HL 21240, a 2010 vintage. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.

Fourteen years in a cream sherry cask gave Mortlach's weighty make sweet raisin and caramel over the meaty depth.

At 55% it shows citrus, cooked fruit, leather, an oily texture and a sherried depth, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
