Description

From Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, this 17 Year Old is a 1990 vintage from cask 5945, an outturn of 516 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.

Seventeen years in Oloroso deepened Mortlach's weighty make into figgy dried fruit and leather, oxidation and ellagitannins adding a nutty, polished structure.

At 57.5% it shows glasshouse, malt extract, old wood and a sherried depth, undiluted. The savoury Dufftown style.
