Mosstowie 31 Years Old 1979 (Gordon & MacPhail)

Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations. Mosstowie was the heavier malt Miltonduff made on its Lomond stills between 1964 and 1981, a separate spirit from the same Speyside distillery. This Rare Old 31 Year Old is a 1979 vintage, bottled in 2010.

Thirty-one years in ex-Bourbon pushed Mosstowie's weightier make to a fragile, ethereal depth, long oxidation and esters bringing beeswax, sandalwood and soft tropical fruit.

At 43% it shows deep mature orchard fruit and vanilla. A 1979 Rare Old Mosstowie.
