Mosstowie 33 Years Old 1979 Cask #RO/12/01 (Gordon & MacPhail)

Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations, whose Rare Old range holds long-aged single casks. Mosstowie was the heavier malt Miltonduff made on its Lomond stills between 1964 and 1981, a separate spirit from the same Speyside distillery. This 33 Year Old is a 1979 vintage, an outturn of 350 bottles.

Thirty-three years in a bourbon cask carried the fuller Mosstowie spirit to the edge of its life, ethereal beeswax and ester fruit, the tannins held just short of bitterness.

At 46% it shows deep mature orchard fruit and vanilla. A 1979 Rare Old Mosstowie.
