Knockdhu anCnoc 12 Years Old (Old Label)

This 12 Years Old is an old-label anCnoc from around 1995, an early bottling of the core twelve from Knockdhu distillery at Knock, in Banffshire. The anCnoc name had only recently been adopted to prevent confusion with Knockando. Opened in 1894, it ranks among the country's smallest distilleries.

Quiet for years, the distillery reopened in 1989. Matured in ex-Bourbon over twelve years, the oak rounds the fresh malt and builds vanilla and light toffee.

Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon cask gives vanilla and coconut from vanillin and oak lactones, with a toffee edge. The profile runs to citrus, a malt extract note, a nutty edge and vanilla. An early-label core anCnoc.
