KVSB003 comes from Kininvie Works, the experimental arm of the elusive William Grant & Sons distillery, released in 2019 as one of a small set of innovation bottlings. Kininvie, built in 1990 at Dufftown to supply malt for blends, almost never appears under its own name, so these Works releases are an unusual public outing.

The distillery makes a light, floral Speyside spirit on the Balvenie site, its wash piped from next door. This experimental blend was matured in virgin American and European oak, fresh wood that pushes the spirit towards spice and fresh vanilla.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 48.2%. The virgin oak gives strong vanillin for vanilla and fresh, spicy tannins. The recorded notes run to a fragrant lift, citrus, a husky note, a malt extract edge, new wood and vanilla. An experimental release from a near-secret distillery.
