Description
KVSG002 is a single grain from Kininvie Works, the experimental arm of the elusive William Grant & Sons distillery, released in 2019. A 3 year old from 2015, it is an unusual departure, a grain spirit from a malt distillery best known for hiding behind blends. Kininvie was built in 1990 at Dufftown to supply malt for William Grant's blended brands.
The Kininvie Works releases let the distillery experiment in public for once. Matured in virgin American oak, the fresh wood works fast on a young spirit, giving vanilla and spice.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 47.8%. The virgin American oak gives strong vanillin for vanilla with a fresh, spicy edge. The recorded notes run to citrus, vanilla and a nutty note. A young experimental single grain from a near-secret distillery.
