Description
Aldunie is a secret name for Kininvie, the elusive William Grant & Sons distillery at Dufftown. Because Grant's teaspoon their casks with a little of another malt, independent bottlers cannot label it Kininvie, so the Italian bottler Whiskyfacile used the pseudonym for this 1997, released in its Black Cat Series from cask 2034. A 25 year old, an outturn of 171 bottles for Italy.
Kininvie was built in 1990 to supply malt for William Grant blends and makes a light, floral Speyside spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon across twenty-five years, the wood deepens the malt over its long life.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 54.5%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee over the floral, aged spirit. A long-aged Italian-market bottling of teaspooned Kininvie.
