Yamazaki Peated Malt

Yamazaki Peated Malt is a no age statement single malt from Suntory's distillery in the valley of Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, where soft humidity and the meeting of three rivers shape the maturing spirit. Released in 2022, it is an unusual smoky release from a distillery far better known for its balance and orchard fruit than for peat.

Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it carries a gentle peat smoke over the distillery's ripe orchard fruit and vanilla, the American oak keeping the spirit bright so the smoke stands out without dominating. The fruit and soft sweetness remain present beneath the smoky layer. Bottled at cask strength 48%, it is warming and composed, a peated take on the house style that keeps the distillery's signature softness.
