Description
White Oak Akashi Meïsei Deluxe is a blended whisky from Eigashima Shuzo, produced at the Hyogo distillery with Japan's oldest whisky licence. Bottled at cask strength 50% and carrying no age statement, it is a Japan domestic market release in a 500ml format, matured in Ex-Bourbon wood. The Deluxe designation positions it above the standard Meïsei in the range.
The richer cask strength bottling allows a fuller expression of the Ex-Bourbon influence, with chocolate, honey, dried fruit and fresh fruit all evident alongside nutty, wood-spiced notes. The added ABV amplifies the texture considerably compared to the 40% sibling, giving the blend more presence and a longer finish while still reflecting the accessible, fruit-forward character typical of Eigashima's blended output.
