Description
Eigashima 2014 BA is a single cask single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled at the Hyogo distillery in 2014 and bottled in 2017 by the independent bottler Blackadder for the Japan domestic market. Released at cask strength 61.5% in a 500ml format, this 3 Years Old expression took on Oloroso sherry maturation rather than the more common Ex-Bourbon route, making it an unusual departure within the Eigashima independent bottling catalogue.
Oloroso cask at three years old delivers a concentration of dark fruit and sherry richness early, but the coal-gas edge noted in the profile is a characteristic that can appear in young, high-strength spirit where the new make character has not yet fully integrated with the wood. The Blackadder bottling preserves this raw, uncompromising quality at full cask strength, offering a transparent and honest snapshot of the distillery's spirit in its youngest form under sherry cask influence.
