Velier Carrere Montebello Flora Antillarum 2002 is a long aged Guadeloupe rum from the Carrere distillery, home of the Montebello brand on Basse-Terre, selected by Velier. Made from a mix of molasses and fresh cane juice, it sits within Guadeloupe's looser IGP, where both feedstocks are allowed.

Distilled on a column still and matured nineteen years in ex bourbon oak, it has reached an elegant, dry maturity where the aromatics lead. The nose is fragrant with peaches, vanilla, flowers and tea, the palate turns to hay, vanilla, herbs and wood, and the finish stays grassy with hay, honey and lime. Bottled unsweetened at 41.3 percent, the palate is lighter and more relaxed than the nose promises, a dry, perfumed sipper for drinkers who enjoy aromatic agricole leaning rum where finesse outweighs power.
