Vanilla, caramel and a hint of cherry sit over soft cooked agave in this reposado blending highland and lowland tequila, the lowland part tahona crushed and the highland autoclave cooked, then married in ex bourbon casks.
Description
TU Tequila Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber reposado produced at Casa Maestri, NOM 1438, and built as a terroir blend, combining agave from the Jalisco lowlands with agave from higher highland regions and marrying two distillates made by different methods. It is aimed at the European bar trade as an approachable, value priced sipper and mixer.
The lowland agave is baked in a brick oven, crushed with a stone tahona, fermented in open wooden tanks with natural yeast and twice distilled in pot stills. The highland agave is cooked in an autoclave, milled mechanically, fermented in stainless and likewise twice distilled. The two are blended and rested six to eight months in ex bourbon casks, giving soft cooked agave with vanilla, light caramel, a touch of cherry and chocolate and a gentle black pepper on a smooth finish.
