Trummer Uhudler prickelnd weiß

Trummer makes this prickelnd from Uhudler, the historic hybrid grapes of Austria's Südburgenland, in a white, semi-sparkling format. Uhudler is prized locally for its unusual wild, foxy character, and this white version keeps the fruit fresh and light. It is a tank style wine, with the fruit kept cool to preserve the primary aromatics, and bottled at a lower pressure so the bead is gentle rather than firm. The result is a fresh, characterful fizz built for easy drinking rather than the cellar.

The colour is pale straw with a fine, soft bead. The nose carries the distinctive Uhudler lift, a wild strawberry note over fresh orchard fruit and a floral edge. The palate is light and fresh, with green apple, pear, red currant and a lemony thread, closing clean and lively. Serve well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees. It works as an aperitif and alongside green salads, lighter cheeses and fresh white fish.
