Description
Trummer makes this prickelnd from Uhudler, the historic hybrid grapes of Austria's Südburgenland, in a red, semi-sparkling format. Uhudler is known locally for its wild, foxy fruit character, and the red version leans fully into that red berried personality. It is a tank style wine, with the fruit kept cool to hold its bright, primary aromatics, and bottled at a lower pressure so the bead is soft rather than firm. The result is a fresh, fruit forward fizz built for easy, sociable drinking.
The colour is a bright, light red with a fine, soft bead. The nose carries the distinctive Uhudler character, wild strawberry and red currant over raspberry and a floral edge. The palate is light and juicy, with red berries and a touch of cherry carried by fresh acidity and a soft, lively bead. Serve lightly chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees. It works as an aperitif and alongside cold chicken, charcuterie and fresh fruit puddings.
