A 13 year Belize Travellers cask strength bottled at 62.6% by The Nectar of the Daily Drams, full proof and wood driven with classic coconut, vanilla and caramel over toasted oak and milk chocolate, a Barbados style profile with real heat.
Description
This release from The Nectar of the Daily Drams is a cask strength Travellers rum from Belize, distilled in 2007 and bottled at thirteen years and a hefty 62.6%. It rewards attention rather than casual sipping, with the kind of wood driven, tropical sweetness that drinkers often liken to a fuller bodied Barbados rum.
Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it shows classic coconut, vanilla, caramel and milk chocolate over toasted wood, with the same notes carrying through the palate and a long, coconut and chocolate finish. At full strength it brings clear alcohol bite, and a few drops of water help it open up. Like many Belize rums it favours rounded coconut and vanilla over funk, and the higher proof gives it extra depth and grip. It is a tasty, oak forward sipper for those who enjoy strength and a familiar sweet wood profile.
