The Distillery S.B.S 2015

The Distillery S.B.S 2015 comes from 1423's Single Barrel Selection, the detail obsessed Danish line built on transparent, cask strength, unsweetened single casks. Distilled at Antigua Distillery in 2015 on a column still and aged nine years, it is finished in a Marsala cask and bottled at 55%, a structured rum with an offbeat twist.

The long fermentation Antigua character shows in a fruity, almost bubble gum nose alongside dried fruit, coconut and spicy wood. The palate is rounder, coconut and caramel over vanilla and light wood, with the Marsala finish lending a sweet, fruity lift, while the close turns to tropical fruit, cedar, allspice and pepper. Unsweetened and bottled at full strength, it stays honest and lively rather than cloying, the wine cask adding playfulness without burying the distillate. A fun yet still composed neat sipper for those who enjoy a characterful cask finish.
