Description
Irish whiskey is overwhelmingly unpeated, which makes this St. Patrick's release a genuine outlier, a peated single malt bottled by the Cork independent in its Small Batch Series. The label notes triple distillation, so the smoke arrives on a typically soft, fruity Irish spirit. A run of 1,050 bottles was filled at 45% for the Polish market.
Maturation in bourbon casks keeps the frame classic, vanilla, honey and orchard fruit, with the peat wrapping campfire smoke and dried herbs around the sweetness rather than dominating it. The result sits closer to a gently smoked Irish malt than to Islay, smoke as seasoning, malt as the meal, and a finish of embers and barley sugar.
